Ink Bottle Organization

"After"

That's the after photo of the ink shelf in my closet -- you don't want to see the before. Picture opening a cabinet, when, all of a sudden, an earthquake occurs and scores of ink bottles come spilling out, just like an infomercial (of course, all in glorious black and white). Think Oscar Madison, if he was a penthusiast. Not quite Closet of Doom™ territory, but close. Not pretty...not pretty at all.

I knew something had to be done.  I first checked out The Container Store, both online and in person and nothing really struck me as a solution--plus, they're expensive! Of course, it was Amazon to the rescue.

I ended up getting a 2 pack Winkine Clear Acrylic Riser Display Shelf. I paid $34.99 a couple of months ago (but now it is $30.99).

Winkine Acrylic Riser (9x12 "Large")

The display stand comes in two sizes: 9" x 12" ("Large") and 9" x 6" ("Small). I purchased the two pack of the large stands.

It came packaged well and in good condition. Assembly is easy and requires no tools. There is even a short video on the product page showing an unboxing and assembly. A microfiber cloth was included to help keep the display stand in pristine condition.

[When I started searching for an ink stand, I searched for lucite display stands. This item is not described as lucite but, rather acrylic. I then thought, what is the difference between lucite and acrylic? It appears it is the same difference between Kleenex and tissues; Band-aids and gauze bandages; and Vaseline and petroleum jelly. Lucite is a trademarked version (in 1937 by Dupont) of a high-quality acrylic resin.]

Dimensions (from Amazon product page)
Of course, size does matter, at least when it comes to display stands. The measurements above are generally accurate but I measured the height of my stand as being closer to 8 3/4 inches than the noted 8.25 inches above. Also, I measured the depth of the entire stand as being just a hair short of 9 inches.

On its side, looking at the underside
My shelf itself is 14 inches high and has a depth of 16 inches. Two of these display stands, side by side, turned out to be the perfect size for it. Of course, your mileage may vary. There is a logo on the bottom front-facing panel, to the right, consisting of the text WINKINE and a representation of a roof. I did not find the logo to be distracting but, of course, I have it in my closet with additional ink bottles sitting in front of the logo. There is also now additional space to store more inks (or other items) underneath the stands.

I now have additional storage space and am able to see the front labels of my ink bottles with easy access to all of them. I am quite pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others. Unlike the infomercial referenced above, however, you do not need to "hurry now and call within the next 20 minutes."
